How to Configure Addthis for Google Analytics

AddThis is an online bookmarking service that allows you to interact through a web app or widget, known as an AddThis button or toolbox. These buttons are website-specific, allowing visitors to have one-click access to sharing content with other social networking sites (e.g., Facebook). This article will walk you through the process of configuring AddThis for Google Analytics.

  1. You must already have a Google Analytics account and installed on the pages of your site you want to configure with AddThis. If you don’t already have an account, you can up and learn how to track sites with Google Analytics.
  2. Add the following AddThis for Google Analytics code to your existing AddThis code. This will allow you to receive AddThis share data in your Google Analytics dashboard as a custom event.

    • Note: The “UA-123456-1” number in the example code below should be replaced with your Google Analytics property ID.

Tips

The AddThis Google Analytics code must be contained in <script> tags.
